High-temperature hydraulic hose: introducing Vitillo Vulcan

Temperature is a key part of hose selection. Discover the Vitillo Vulcan range and what to include when discussing a high-temperature application.

A replacement hose needs to suit the conditions it will actually encounter. For equipment operating at elevated temperatures, knowing the diameter and length is only the beginning.

HACI has introduced Vitillo Vulcan on our LinkedIn page as a hose range for high-temperature applications. If you are reviewing a hot-running installation or ordering a specified replacement, it provides a useful starting point for a technical enquiry.

Temperature needs a precise description

“It gets hot” is useful background, but a temperature figure and an explanation of the operating cycle are more helpful. Tell us the normal working temperature, any short-duration peaks and the conditions around the hose.

As a specific example, Vitillo’s published Vulcan 1 data lists an operating range of -40°C to +135°C, with peaks of +150°C. A peak figure is not a continuous operating rating, and those figures should not be treated as approval for every fluid or installation.

The same product data describes an air- and oil-resistant synthetic rubber inner tube, a single steel-braid reinforcement and a cover designed for heat, weather and ozone resistance. It also specifies a pin-pricked cover for compressed-air applications. The required version therefore needs to be established before ordering.

Look at the whole application

Temperature is one part of the selection. The conveyed medium, working pressure, size, connections and installation requirements need to be checked together.

When contacting HACI, include the equipment reference and existing hose code if you have them. If you are replacing a product that has worked satisfactorily, that reference can help establish the starting specification. If there has been a failure or a change in conditions, explain that too.

Useful questions to resolve include:

  • What passes through the hose?
  • What are the normal and maximum operating conditions?
  • Is the temperature continuous or intermittent?
  • What connections and finished assembly length are required?
  • Is there an equipment drawing or approved parts specification?

Please distinguish measured operating conditions from estimates. If a value is unknown, we can discuss what needs confirming rather than treating a guess as a specification.

Ask HACI about Vulcan

Send us the application details, quantity and required date. We can discuss the relevant Vulcan product and check availability against the requirement.

Contact HACI to discuss high-temperature hose supply. A clear specification helps us progress your enquiry and identify the appropriate product information.
